Unscripted Hotel Durham

Happy Tuesday Babes!

This past weekend, we stayed at a boutique hotel in Durham, Unscripted, and I wanted to share a little about our stay.

The hotel is located in Downtown Durham, a few minutes away from the Durham Bulls stadium. The property was actually built in the 60’s and the retro pool and decor give this hotel serious charm. I’d heard of the hotel as a hot spot in the summer time with a fab pool, so I was excited to check out what kind of fall events they offered. Spoiler Alert: I wasn’t disappointed.

We arrived Saturday afternoon and were greeted by the friendliest staff with a champagne welcome (always a plus). Check in was a breeze, I always judge a hotel by how painless their check in and out process is. After checking out our room – head to stories to see this – we went straight to the bar.

The bar in the hotel is called The Studio and it’s located right in the lobby. It definitely gets crowded at night, so plan accordingly. For the entire month of December, the hotel is featuring live music. See below for the complete series.

My favorite drinks were the Drink Cider Unscripted (tastes like an adult hot apple juice) and the 14k (see below – it literally has edible gold on top). During the month of December, Unscripted is having private holiday cocktail tastings. There are two dates left for this private event – December 11th and December 18th from 6-8 pm.

After more than a couple drinks, we walked a few blocks to dinner. We ate at Mother and Son’s Trattoria and HOLY GOOD. Probably one of the best Italian restaurants in the triangle. 10/10 recommend.

Sunday morning, we had breakfast at Unscripted’s diner, Jack Tar and the Colonel’s Daughter, and it was yummmmy. They even had homemade donuts and crullers. I had the avocado toast and it was fresh & delicious. The service was fast, the food was good and the coffee was hot – all hallmarks of a good diner.

&&& the hotel has the best selfie mirrors around! Does it get better? If you live in the Triangle and are looking for a staycation or if you are visiting the area, I can’t recommend Unscripted enough. Head to https://www.unscriptedhotels.com/offers_en/ to book your stay.

NSale Dupes

The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale goes live for everyone today at 12:30!

This highly requested post is finallllly done. I know the #nsale can be annoying and is over saturated. I get it. But, I also know that a lot of you don’t have a Nordstrom card and haven’t been able to shop the sale yet.

Lots of items are sold out, but I also think lots of items aren’t a great price. Yes, they’re on sale, but 10-20% off really isn’t that great.

So, I’ve rounded up a bunch of similar options. Some are better prices and some are even prime shipping (YASSSSSSSSSS)

  1. First up is this suede skirt that’s only available in size 31 for $64.90. This one was easy to find dupes for. Two super cute options HERE ($39.20!!) and HERE.

2. This completely sold out leopard cardigan ($31.90). Great Dupe for this one HERE ($28.99)! Can you even really tell the difference?

3. Sold out Halogen Leopard Pleated Midi skirts. I do think this style of skirt is going to be hugely in for fall. This Amazon dupe is almost exactly the same for $21.99!!! This Dupe is different, but I’m kind of obsessed with the print.

4. Man, there’s a ton of leopard on this list LOL. This cute little swing dress ($49.90) sold out super fast. Dupe linked HERE and HERE – Both options are under $20!!!

5. BB Dakota Chambray Dress – only available in size L, XL, and XXL. Tons of Dupes for this adorable dress. HERE HERE HERE and HERE (this one is $14!).

6. These adorbs jammies. Linking an exact dupe HERE on Amazon for $28 bucks.

7. This scarf sold out SUPER fast. Good news, it was easy to find multiple VVVVV similar scarves. They are linked HERE ($26) HERE and HERE ($12)

8. This Gibson Sweater… LOVE the color. DUPE for $25 bucks

9. Spanks Faux Leather Leggings… These are still $61 even on sale. SOOOO why not try a Dupe? Similar Linked HERE (I’m ordering these!) and HERE

10. BP Joggers that sold out the first day. I actually don’t love these, I don’t want to look like I’m walking around in pajamas. I prefer the look of THESE.

11. These sold out, but were restocked. If you love them, great. I don’t love them. Here are some animal inspired prints I do love. Linked HERE ($25) and HERE.

These $64 black block heels are a closet staple. BUT if the $64 part is making you pause. HERE are almost identical shoes for $32 bucks.

12. Love these but hate the $164 price tag? Here are some $63 dollar dupes for yaaaaa.

That’s it for now. If you want a dupe of something specific, message me and I’ll do my best to find it.

Amazon Prime Day

Happy Prime Days! Two days of deals on deals on deals.

I’m rounding up all my Amazon finds here for you guys.

Reminder: NOT all the deals go live at the same time. So, some of the things linked here aren’t on sale yet. If it doesn’t say “prime day deal” it’s not on sale yet.

I’ll keep updating this here and on stories. Flash deals sell out fast. Use the Buy it Now button if it’s something you love.

My favorite plain black and white tees are part of prime day! There are linked below. I have 3 of each and I wear them all the time.

I’m also gonna join 2019 by getting airpods. Will I lose them immediately? Stay tuned…

I tried to organize the picks accordingly.. First is fashion, next is beauty, last is tech.

Nordies Sale Picks

Wow, it’s been a hot second since I wrote a blog post.

I am going to try to be more consistent (sorry y’all). SO many of you have messaged me to ask if I stopped blogging (NO!). But, since joining RewardStyle – most of my shoppable posts are on that platform and here under Shop My Instagram.

Let’s get down to business. The time has come for the annual Nordstrom sale. To be honest, I’ve been kind of dreading it for a few reasons.

  1. Every blogger under the sun hits the sale HARD. There are a few reasons for this. Nordstrom really pushes the sale hard to most bloggers and pays influencers $$$$ to promote it. BUT, also RewardStyle (the company bloggers uses to monetize their blogs) and Nordstrom work together to create more commission for bloggers. So, it’s in EVERY bloggers best interest to hit the sale hard. But, it always leaves me feeling a little meh about the whole thing.
  2. It’s July. I live in North Carolina which means it’s about 90+ degrees every day. It’s hard for me to start thinking about fall boots and cardigans.
  3. I also feel like the sale prices haven’t really been that great the past few years. I encourage you to buy one pieces you LOVE and not fall into the trap of “oh, it’s on sale, so I should buy it”.
  4. AND last but not least. I HATE seeing something I’ve bought on 800 other people. I know everyone can style things differently, but at some point during the sale, you’re entire insta feed is the same basic look done 8392420 times.

So, because of this.. I’m choosing not to hit the sale hard. I picked 10 things I think are actually worth purchasing. I’ll most likely do a try on session this weekend at my local Nordstrom and that will be that.

Just to note – The sale for cardholders is live today. If you don’t have a Nordstrom card, the sale will go live the 19th.

  1. Blank Suede Skirt : I feel like this one is 100% going to sell out. I ordered a Medium, for a lower waisted fit. $64
  2. Sway Chambray Dress: I LOVE THIS. Can’t wait for it to come in. $64
  3. OTS Hot Pink Sweater (comes in 2 colors): I can’t say no to pink. $41
  4. Madewell Jeans: High Waisted. I paid full price for these, the fit is a dream. $85
  5. Marc Fisher OTK Boots: $160, great option, similar to the Stuart Weitzman Highland Boot
  6. Perfect Work Tote: $32
  7. Zella Work Out Pants: Maybe these will make me work out. Stay tuned. $38
  8. The Perfect Work Appropriate wear everyday studs: $64
  9. Leith Wrap Dress: SO FLATTERING.

  4. Free People Esque Dress: $49. Must. Try. On.

Splurge Items:

  1. Someone tell me I don’t need this mirror to do my makeup : $250. Will my makeup look better, more even? Probably not. BUT I want.
  2. Sam Edelman Coat: I love it. I know some of you will hate it. $196.
  3. Patagonia Puffer: $199; price isn’t low enough for me to pull the trigger…

I’m gonna keep updating this as things sell out/ I find things I like. Stay tuned for my try on session tomorrow in store.

Cancun Travel Diary

Happy Cinco Babes!

As promised (so late I know) I wanted to share a little bit more about our trip to Cancun.

So, I’ve been to Mexico lots of times. But, we’ve always just used Cancun as a jumping off point, traveling to Tulum or Playa del Carmen. We’ve never actually stayed there. I’d heard lots of varying things about Cancun, so we decided to check it out and see for ourselves. Raleigh has a direct flight right into Cancun so it was the perfect quick little getaway.

Where we Stayed

We stayed at the beautiful Grand Fiesta Americana Cancun. We booked a beautiful suite with a huge rooftop balcony. The views were unreal and the water was just the prettiest shade of blue. We had unlimited access to the VIP lounge at the very top of the hotel. There they had daily breakfast, lunch and happy hour with heavy hors d’oeuvres.

The pools at this hotel are crazy. We lost count, but it seemed like they went on forever and ever. We mainly stayed at the pool bar. There was also a VIP area on the beach and at the pool. They have a variety of water activities as well. We went jet skiing and swam out to the anchored dock.

The hotel has the largest spa in South America, so we had to check it out. It was beautiful and beyond relaxing. The eucalyptus steam room was SO good.

COVER UP: Gianni Bini (old) SANDALS: Tory Burch BAG: Amazon PHONE CASE: Etsy

Where To Eat

  1. Porfirio’s: Freaking yum. Porfirio’s sits right on the water and we caught the sunset our first night in Cancun here. The food is traditional Mexican cuisine with GOOD drinks. This was my favorite restaurant we ate at while in Cancun.
  2. Limoncello: Yum. Italian restaurant right on the water. The seafood pasta dishes were so good.
  3. Lorenzillo’s: Lobsta, lobsta. SO good. We came here for the lobster, we ate the lobster and we were not disappointed.

What To Do

  1. Coco Bongo: So freaking FUN. We actually went both nights, because it was just too good. Think Vegas on steroids. It’s a LONG show (close to 3 hours) with acts for everyone. Performances to Queen, The rollings stones and more current song.. Think dancing, performers swinging from the ceilings, flames… All the good stuff. I honestly could not look away. Highly recommend.
  2. Private Sail: I really wanted to take a boat out to Isla Mujeres. I found the BEST private boat company on trip advisor. We met them at the dock and sailed around for a private 5 hour boat tour. They provided endless alcohol and lunch. We left around 2 because we wanted to see the sunset from the boat. The tour is completely custom. You can basically leave at whatever time works for you. This was probably my favorite part of our trip! Highly recommend.

All in all, we were super pleasantly surprised about out trip to Cancun. I am SO in for any tropical location that’s just a short direct flight away. I never felt unsafe the entire time we were there. We ventured out into downtown Cancun every night we were there. We even ate tacos at 2 am and I never even felt uneasy.

Miami Travel Guide 2019

Happy Tuesday Babes!

As always, wanted to share a little bit more about our trip to Miami. Miami is hands down one of my favorite places to visit in Florida. It’s just so extra. Sorry, there just really isn’t a more fitting word for Miami. We always have the best time and the shopping is to die forrrrrrrrr. Picked up a new baby while we were there. More to come on that.

DRESS: Amazon│SHOES: Schutz

Where We Stayed

1 Hotel South Beach

SO SO Good. This hotel was rated the #7 hotel in the U.S. last year. Yup, it’s that good. There are four pools and the hotel sits right on the beach. The beach club is private and beautiful. The staff is super accommodating and ready to help. I loved staying here, highly recommend.

Where We Ate

Ok, head to Baoli where all your boujee dreams will come true. Many, many celeb sightings here. It’s a restaurant/ bar that gets club-y at night. We had dinner and if you’re heading there for dinner you NEED a reservation. They weren’t even letting people in the door without a reservation when we went.

The food is Asian fusion and it’s GOOOOOD. We had the omakase which is Japanese for “I’ll leave it up to you”. Basically, the chef decides all 12 (yes, TWELVE) courses for you. It was honestly one of the best meals I’ve ever had.

I LOVE to people watch and Baoli was SO good for this. Bach or bachelorette parties, influencers, just people watching galore.

Il Gabbiano

Il Gabbiano is a Miami institution so we had to check it out. You need a reservation for dinner. We made ours 2 weeks in advance and still were stuck with a 9 pm reservation. That’s fine though – go early for some prime people watching (I feel like there’s a theme here). It’s Italian food and it was super good. Homemade pasta, and bread. Just call me Carbie.

Orange Blossom

I’m not a huge breakfast person but HOLY YUM. Avocado Toast to die forrrrr. We also had to huevos rancheros which were really good. &&&&& the coffee!!!! The restaurant is super cute too. It’s small, so either make a reservation or be prepared to wait.

Things To Do:

ONE PIECE: Amazon │SUNNIES: Amazon│ WATCH: Michele

We really just wanted to hang poolside and beachside for the weekend. It has been really cold in Raleigh, so we wanted to soak up the sun. On Saturday, we stayed at the Rooftop pool the entire day. It’s adults only and the view is perfect.

Questions? Email me, DM me! We love Miami and I highly recommend making the trip!
