LA Travel Diary

Happy Friday babes! Beyond happy the weekend is here! &&&& next week is a short week!

I just love California.

Every time we go, I start making plans to move west permanently. && then I have a sharp turn back to reality when I start looking at housing options ($$ Ouch, that would hurt$$).

Several parts of California are on my bucket list. I’ve been dying to see Napa and Yosemite and San Fran. But, I’ve really never spend a significant amount of time in Los Angeles. We’ve always used LA as a jumping off point for a longer vacation like Hawaii or Australia. So, we combined some work and travel and spent 4 days in Los Angeles.

For the first part of our trip we stayed at the Shade Hotel in Manhattan Beach. Highly, highly recommend. The Shade is  a luxury boutique hotel about 20 minutes from downtown LA. It’s about two blocks from the beach which was perfect. We walked to the beach every morning.  We stayed in one of the spa suites and the bath tub was NO JOKE y’all.

I’ve talked about this before, but I judge a hotel harshly on their bathroom. I just need a bathroom with a good amount of space.

The two restaurants we picked in  Manhattan Beach were Nick’s & The Strand House.

Nick’s is more casual but has seriously delicious drinks. My favorites were the spicy poloma martini and the cucumber collins.

The Strand House has stunning beach front views. We ate brunch there both days we stayed in Manhattan beach… oops! lol Bottomless mimosas for the win!

We loved our time in California. Let me know if you have any questions! We are heading down to the beach for the weekend. Are you guys celebrating the 4th this weekend or next?

Summer Maxi Dresses

Happy Hump Day Babes!

Raleigh is rainy and dreary today which always makes me so unmotivated. Monday-est Wednesday evaaaaa.

But, we are heading to the beach this weekend and I can’t wait to be near the water. I love NC, but being close to two hours from the beach was a huge adjustment when I first moved here.

I love a good maxi dress in the summer. Why you ask?

  1. Comfy
  2. Flattering (AKA hides my food baby post dinner)
  3. Low Maintenance
  4. Can be Dressed Up or Down
  5. Feminine
  6. Time Efficient

Enough reasons?

My maxi is sold out, but I linked a ton of my favorites below.

Hope everyone is having the best week!

Happy Monday babes!

I think I snoozed my alarm clock a solid 5 times this morning. Anyone else just want to stay in bed today?

The Fourth of July (AKA one of my favorite holidays) is fast approaching and I have SO much red, white and stars coming yo way! 😉

But, first I had to get this dress up because it’s on sale for $59 and most sizes are in stock.

I love the floral print and the drop waist AND the shoulder details. LOL ok, ok I might like everything about this dress.

What are you waiting for? Go scoop it up!

Floral Tiered Stunner

Guys… Sometimes you buy a dress and that dress just puts all of your other dresses to shame.

That is this dress. Every time I walk into my closet, I want to put her on.

Yes, she’s a she.

I think I’ve been caught dancing around my room in this dress at least three times. No shame in my dress up game.

I was L O Ling when I finally got these pictures on my computer from my camera. The lighting is perfect, the dress looks great, my makeup isn’t melting down my face…. AND then I noticed that dude in almost all of them. SIGH #bloggerprobs

I hope you guys are having the best week. The weekend is SO close.

Palm Print Dress

Well it’s only Wednesday and I’m already counting down the hours to the weekend. It is HOT in NC, y’all. Like 100 degrees hot. I sort of think work should be cancelled and we should all go to the pool.

Who’s with me?

This dress sold out so FAST and I am SO sad :((((((. I linked some other super cute palm prints that are under $25.00!

I have been struggle busing lately with cooking. Anyone ever plan and buy a weeks worth of healthy meals and then proceed to eat out every night? Sigh. That’s been me for a few weeks now.

So, recently, I decided to try Fresh Meal PlanI LOVE IT. All of the meals are healthy – you can even choose from meal plans that are paleo or ketogenic or vegetarian. It’s relatively inexpensive and beyond convenient!!

Anyone else use meal services that they like? Lemme know!

Terranea Resort Diary

BATHING SUIT: J Crew │SHORTS: Express │SHOES: Keds│ BRACELETS: David Yurman │SUNNIES: Karen Walker

Happy Monday Babes!

While we were in LA (post coming on that soon), we stayed at seriously the most stunning resort, Terranea. Originally, we were planning on staying in Manhattan Beach for our entire trip. But, a close friend recommended Terranea and after a few clicks around their website, I was sold.

Terranea is located in Rancho Palos Verdes, about a 30 minute drive from downtown LA. The resort features 102 acres right on the Pacific Ocean. Catalina Island lies right off of the coast of the resort.

The resort has something for everyone. Amenities include:

  • Three pools (one with a super fun slide)
  • A Spa: I swear, y’all, I had the BEST massage of my life here
  • Tons of Ocean activities: paddle boarding, kayaking, whale watching, etc
  • A kid’s club
  • Golf course
  • 4 Restaurants
  • & of course, endless amazing ocean views

We stayed in one of the bungalows that sit right on the ocean. Highly recommend. It was so nice to enjoy breakfast out on our terrace. We even saw whales one morning.

We had dinner twice at Mar’sel. Yup, you read the right. It was really THAT good. The restaurant looks right out onto the ocean and the sunset views were spectacular.

We had the absolute best time here. If you’re heading to LA and want to get away from the city for a night or two, head to Terranea. OR if you’re looking for a wedding venue!!

Eyelet Romper

ROMPER: Asos │SHOES: Schutz│BAG: Amazon (Gucci Dupe) │SUNNIES: Karen Walker │WATCH: Michele │BRACELETS: David Yurman

Happy Thursday Babes!

I had to type that sentence a few times to figure out what day it is. We took the red eye home from LA Tuesday night and I still don’t think I’ve fully recovered.

How adorable is this romper?

Off the shoulder & eyelet? I’m obsessed. It also comes in white and is a serious summer staple.

&&& I found this super chic clutch on Amazon and it’s such a good Gucci dupe. I’ve been all about the designer dupes lately. This one is only $15 (say what?!) and is surprisingly good quality. It comes in a few colors as well.

Everyone ready for the weekend?

Sweetest Blush Dress

DRESS: Rebecca Taylor │SHOES: Designer Dupe from Amazon │BAG: Kate Spade (old) Similar Here │BRACELETS: Here │SUNNIES: Karen Walker

Happy, Happy Wednesday Babes!

I’ve done it. I have found the perfect where to any occasion dress.

You are so welcome ;).

But, in all seriousness, there are just so many places I could see this dress. It’s not too short, or too long, and the top is way fun. I wore it to a high school graduation and got tons and tons of compliments.

The fit is TTS – I am wearing a size 4.

Still way too obsessed with these shoes. I now own them in 4 different colors. I love designer pieces as much as the next gal – BUT I am all about a designer dupe.

I hope everyone is having the best week!

Wrap Black Dress

DRESS: Sabo Skirt │SHOES: Stuart Weitzman (old) Similar Here │SUNNIES: Karen Walker │BAG: Celine │BRACELETS: David Yurman

Monday, we meet again.

Does anyone else have a to-do list that is actually miles long? I was planning to be so productive over the weekend, but then the pool started calling my name and I really got nothing done. Oops.

&&& we are heading somewhere fun this weekend and part of next week for a little bit of work and a lot of play. So, I guess I better get my but in gear.

I love a good wrap dress. So, throw in a funky cut out and I’m all in. This LBD is beyond flattering and such a good summer staple. The material is a thicker jersey which helps hide flaws. It’s TTS – I’m wearing a small.

AND this dress is only $48 bucks.

Hope everyone (mainly me) has the most productive week 😉
